Dogs and humans have good prerequisites to understand each other. Both dogs and humans are predators situated at the top of the food chain, they have similar strategies of survival and they are intelligent.

Every man or woman can be a good handler. The key point is to know one´s limits and give oneself enough space for learning. Without experience, you will have difficulties to manage a situation when your dog is about to put down another dog, so it is better to seek advice or get into such a situation with assistance of someone more experienced. It is better to avoid a difficult situation than to disturb the trust between you and your dog. On the other hand, through each difficult situation you learn, dog´s agression frightens you less and less with each quarrel and you gain self-confidence.

At the same time, it is good to know that it is demanding for the dog to understand you. It is like being in another country and speaking foreing language that you learned relatively well, but it remains a foreing language. That is why dogs need so much the company of other dogs: it is like coming back home after some time spent abroad, back to your country where they understand you in shops, you understand  slogans on billboards and so on.

Although dogs understand us, they behave according to dogs´ rules. You need to know those rules, they help you to understand the dog´s behaviour in a particular situation – including unwanted behaviour. You can ask the dog not to behave according to dogs´ rules, but you should be aware that you are asking such thing and that it is difficult for the dog. You should therefore ask it in an understandable manner and insist on it every time in the same way.
